So, how's the Bangkok nightlife?

Bangkok is the mecca for beer bars, clubbing and go-go bars.

I'll be straight with you.

Whether you're single, dating, straight, homosexual and/or want to get laid -- you'll find your opportunity in Bangkok!

You can dance to any type of music, and it's just wild and fun partying with crazy Thais and laid-back travelers!

First, some useful info on the prices of alcohol!

The most popular beers in Thailand are Singha, Chang Beer, Tiger beer and Leo.

Singha: 40-140 Baht

Grab a Singha at the food stalls and it will cost you 40 B. The nightclubs and go-go bars charge up to 140 B.

Chang Beer: 35-40 B at the food stalls

Leo Beer: 35-40 B

Tiger Beer: 55 B

A bottle of Samsong (traditional Thai rum): 150-200 B

What about wine in Bangkok?

Wine is expensive in Thailand, that's for sure. That's because is heavily taxed.

A good bottle of wine will easily cost you 400-450 B. If you want to settle for less quality, you can probably find one for 350 B.

Khao San Road

Khao San Road (KSR) is the place where a lot of travelers hang out and party!

You can go from bar to bar along this road, and many types of entertainment can be found on KSR (street performers, pool, karaoke, sports channels etc).

The beers are cheap enough and you can get Happy Hour every day! You'll have no problem finding "Thai buckets"!

It's a good place to "bond" and flirt with other backpackers from all parts of the world.

A good thing is that you're in the backpacker area, so it doesn't matter how you dress.

Go to Khao San Road and party if:

  • You're comfortable with a lot of people in one place

  • You can handle very loud music and screaming from tourists and travelers who had too much to drink

  • You don't expect a nightlife with just Thais -- 99,9% of the party-people are foreigners!

If you're more of the calm type, or just can't stand another night of heavy drinking, I suggest you sit down at one of the outdoor restaurants, relax, have a beer and observe the life in the streets!

Café Democ

At Cafe Democ you can dance and sweat to anything from hip-hop, pop, trance, drum and bass or even my favourite:

Progressive house.

The progressive music is almost as good as the Half Moon Party on
Koh Pha Ngan!

Most of the people coming here at night are Thais, so it's a good opportunity to get to know the locals. During the day, Democ is a popular café for foreigners!

Where: Located on Ratchadamnoen Road (opposite to McDonald's), about 10-15 minutes walk from KSR.

Bed Supperclub

Known to be Bangkok's trendiest club where various DJs (international ones as well) introduce their music.

Even some of my favorite international DJs (Style of Eye and Booka Shade) have played at Bed Supperclub ;-)

They play house, funk, r'n'b, 80's etc. Futuristic look, cool interior and you can lay down in a large bed/couch while you're being served drinks. I heard they even have model's night on Wednesdays.

It's a place where the good-looking people go!

And they also have a restaurant (didn't try the food though).

When it comes to the dress code:

One of my friends didn't pass because he wore shorts...! So no shorts and no flip-flops.

Cover charge: 800 B per person (Friday and Saturday from 20.30 pm); includes two drinks

600 B per person (Sunday and Thursday from 21.30 pm, and Monday from 23.00 pm); includes two drinks

700 B (Wednesday from 20.30 pm); includes two drinks

Minimum age: 20 years

Where: 26 Sukhumvit Soi 11. If you take the Skytrain, get off at Nana station and go to exit number 3.

Look for a huge white tube (not to be missed)!

Narcissus

Ever been to Ibiza?

I can tell you that Narcissus is just like the clubs on Ibiza. Packed and wild! Thais and Westerners will step on small platforms and dance their asses off.

Narcissus is a popular HUGE club, and it's always packed with people. But don't worry -- the place has many bars and dance floors so you'll likely find your very own dancing spot.

They play a variety of music, like techno, hip hop and rock. But if you like trance/techno this is the place to go! Guest DJs come from all around the world to play on Narcissus' special nights.

And before I forget.

The club is built in a beautiful Greek architecture and the decoration details will blow your mind!

Where: Sukhumvit Soi 23

To get there, you can take the Skytrain to Asok station.

Open: 9.00 pm - 2.00 am

G.O.D., Balcony Bar etc.

The gay community can find bars, like G.O.D., Balcony Bar and more in Silom area (Soi 2 and Soi 4).

GOD is famous for its "Guys on Display" in dance cages, high-tec lighting and a large dance area.

QUICK TIP!

If you decide to take a Tuk-Tuk, tell the driver exactly where you want to go (give an address or a name) before you get in.

Example: If you just say "take me to a club" or "take me to a shopping mall," the chances of being dropped off at their friend's shop are high (they will get a commission if they can get customers, that`s why they do it).
