The Highlights of Thongsala on Koh Phangan Thailand
by Amanda/Backpacking Tips Asia
Night market in Thongsala
The main jetty on Koh Pha Ngan is located in Thongsala, and this is where ferries from Surat Thani, Koh Tao and Koh Samui dock. But there aren't many backpackers who actually stay in this town. They would rather stay on the beaches like Had Rin, Had Yao, Thong Nai Pan beaches. Other than that; you'll find bars, small boutique shops, banks and family shops. And also a post office. I found a nice shop selling unique clothing (dresses, t-shirts and tops) - all made by a local designer. But the clothes were a bit expensive (500B and up), so I didn't buy anything there. We found a small cozy bar, but we were the only people there. After a couple of Singhas, we took the songthaew back to Had Yao beach (100-150B per person). Last updated: May 01, 2012
